NORWAY 

PROHIBITED AND RESTRICTED GOODS

Narcotics, goods made from endangered species, medicines and pornography may not be imported.  You may not take your telephone or items to be connected to the Norwegian telephone network into Norway.   Alcohol, firearms and live plants are subject to restrictions. Pets which are not regarded as "natural" in Norway will be prohibited

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS 

Used household goods may be imported free of duty and VAT, provided the owner has been living abroad for the last 12 months prior to his/her arrival in Norway. Any new items are liable to full import duties and VAT.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED:

  • Inventories in duplicate in English, German or Norwegian
  • Original Bill of Lading
  • Norwegian Customs Declaration RD-0030B / RD-0030E
  • Full delivery instruction
  • The Import & Export Declaration must include the Importers Person Number, Norwegian Citizen ID/Reg. Number. For those that have not yet recieved their permanent Norwegian ID number, a temporary ID number can be obtained.

A declaration form, (UK C3 Customs form), must be filled in and signed by the consignee.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

Liable to extremely high duties, even for small quantities and are subject to full Customs Inspection. A detailed inventory list showing brand, number/volume of bottles, vintage, alcoholic content in % must be supplied.  An import licence is required for even small quantities and opened bottles.  Therefore, please inform your T.I.M.N. agent prior to shipping liquor and wine.

FIREARMS & AMMUNITION

May be imported. Owner must obtain permission from local Police Dept. This permission has to be presented to customs at the time of customs clearance of household goods.

LIVE PLANTS

A certificate, from the Plant and Wildlife Department in the country of origin must accompany live plants to show that they are healthy.  Import licence required as well as a detailed inventory list showing type (with / without flowers, with / without pot, cuttings, bulbs etc.).  Up to 5 indoor plants are allowed, liable to duties and taxes.


AUTOMOBILES/MOTORCYCLES

You may apply for temporary permission for short-term use of a car on foreign plates in Norway.  In that case, there is no duties to pay providing the car is re-exported in due time.  Normally permission is only granted for a 6 months period in relation to a less than one-year stay in Norway.

Clients should clear this directly with Norwegian destination agents prior to shipment.

PETS


Pets which are not regarded as "natural" in Norway will be prohibited.  All animals must have a veterinary certificate and be vaccinated against rabies.  All animals from non-EU countries require four months quarantine.  Animals from EU countries may still require one to two weeks quarantine.
